Maria G. Keehan is the art director of Smithsonian magazine. She greatly appreciates the opportunity to consider the photography presented by Smithsonian readers. She is heartened by the continued interest in and commitment to the art form, which is the backbone of the magazine.

Erik Washam has been Smithsonian's associate art director since 2002. He recently wrote an article for the magazine on mistakes and hoaxes in science history ("Cosmic Errors," December 2010). Erik earned a B.S. degree in visual communication from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and is an amateur painter and photographer.

Bonnie Stutski is the senior photography editor for Smithsonian and has more than 30 years experience in photography and publishing. She has been a freelance photographer, photo agent, documentary film producer and a photo editor—and occasional writer—for National Wildlife Federation Books, the National Geographic Society and Time-Life Books.

Molly Roberts is a photography editor and photographer for Smithsonian. She is committed to the power of visual journalism to inform and compel positive change in our society and the world. Her work has been honored in American Photography and by the New York Art Directors Club and the Society of Publication Designers. Roberts received a B.A. degree in art history and studied photography in the graduate program at the University of Maryland at College Park.

Brendan McCabe has been a photography editor at Smithsonian for since 2005. He edits features for the magazine and produces videos for Smithsonian.com. Brendan has an MFA degree in photography and is a photographer himself.

Jeff Campagna is an associate photo editor at Smithsonian and has been with the magazine since 2004. He regularly contributes arts and culture pieces to the Around the Mall Blog and Smithsonian.com. A graduate of Bucknell University, he is also an award-winning songwriter and local musician.

Jesse Rhodes has been an editorial assistant at Smithsonian since 2008. He holds a B.A. degree in English from George Mason University and is a regular contributor to the Around the Mall and Food and Think blogs at Smithsonian.com.
