A starfish greets the sun after a hurricane
Brandon Pendred
(Spartanburg, SC)
Photographed October 2006, Kiawah Island, SC
Walking the beach after a strong storm struck Kiawah Island, S.C., Pendred found a starfish washed ashore, its arm gently uplifted. "In my mind," he recalls, "I thought that was a cry for help, or maybe it was just trying to say, 'Hello, please try not to step on me.' I took a few photos and then picked him up and laid him back in the water."
One of my favorite. Very clever angle

The play of light and the show of a creature's life after a hurricane makes this a very special photo. Wonderfully composed and shot! Thanks for "finding" this picture to take!

Has anyone else noticed the impression in the sand adjacent to the starfish? There appears to be another star fish just below the sand. Someone please comment on this so I can be certain of what I am seeing.

Tim--I may be way off, but it looks like there may be a shallow layer of water on top of the sand, & this may be a reflection of the Starfish.
