A ride at the Virginia State Fair
Gordon Stillman (Richmond, VA)
Photographed October 2008, Henrico County, VA

"I took photographs of many rides, but I was drawn to this one in particular because I wanted to capture the motion and excitement people feel when they are on the ride," says Stillman. "Like in a memory, some parts of this photo are clearer than others."

Such a beautiful moment captured in time, great shot!

Awesome shot, the colors so vibrant!

The people near and the blurs far!! And the ferris wheel in the background -- so much about a state fair.

People up close and people in a blur - all in motion, with the ferris wheel in the background. The feel of a state fair.

Fabulous!! Makes with dizzy with delight.

Isn't this the cover art for Dave Matthews Band: Under the Table and Dreaming?

Wow!! Beautiful and a little eerie at the same time, a remarkable image!!

Wow!!! Its amazing how much motion is captured in a still picture. I love the contrast between the in focuse people, and the out of focus people. I can easily see this ride going around and around! It is amazing to think that it is not moving! I love It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This image took me right there -- a warm, humid evening full of the cotton candy and hot dog smells of the fair. You captured it all, gordon -- and you got my vote!! Great shot!

Even though it's nicely done, it has been done before like this so many times. Just look at the cover for Dave Matthews Band "Under the table and dreaming".
