at the Chicago Art Institute

Tim Gruber (Freeport, MN)
Photographed August 2003, Chicago, IL

What intrigues Gruber about this photograph taken at Chicago's Art Institute is that "the [museumgoer] looks like she belongs in the painting, despite everything telling us she doesn't."

I like MJ Seibert's comment: "She was the female model for the painting." Go back and look at the picture with that thought. DEEP!

Great (photographic) minds think alike. Here's my similar photo: http://ttftr.com/zh9kjV

Susan Mueller is wrong. I checked with the Chicago Art Institute before taking my photo and was told that it was permitted.

I'll bet Thomas Struth had some type of permission before shooting his Museum Collection.

No photos were allowed at the Art Institute when visiting this exhibit. Photo illegally obtained and should not win.

Maybe all observers of this painting seem like they belong in the painting. See my capture, the two young people almost mirror the two in the painting: http://www.joanlansberry.com/fotoart/caille-.html

She was the female model for the painting.
