Rasta Daughter

(Selwane Evodia Melamu)

Rasta Daughter

Photo by Selwane Evodia Melamu (Johannesburg, South Africa). Photographed in Johannesburg, South Africa, May 2012.

  • By Perrin Doniger

The photographer took this self-portrait using a Canon 550D. "This image is important to me because of my Rastafarian culture," Melamu said. "In my culture, females are known as queens, and the image I took represents me as a bust of the Queen Nefertiti in Egypt."

This is a beautiful portrait in black and white. She is certainly a queen.

Wonderful capture & excellent perspective. The picture has a 3d like appeal .In a simple words it's straightly connecting with the viewers.

excellent light & composition

very good picture with dramatic lighting.

very good picture with dramatic effect.

a dramatic light and shadow reflects the tides of a Barbour's life.

awesome photo-- the movement is fluid and draws the eyes across the image.

Very nice moment you got-rest and calm

This is a wonderful image. I love the toning of this B&W image. Just a nit: The Canon 3D is a rumor at this point.

This is a stunning photo of a beautiful person. The light reflecting on her is just perfect! Would rather it not have been posed, but it is beautiful.

Simple but nicely captured by the author and credits goes to him because of well exposed and balanced snap ignoring the disturbance from the harsh light. Deserved for the grand pix.

reminds me of that painting, The Dreamers
