Great idea. Unfortunately, the bug is dead and the legs' and antennas' posture just emphasizes this fact. So the whole impression is ruined :(

This technique can be done conservative as it is and simply it make a huge statement it the life of an american woman reminds of old days growing up and the rituale of, my mom and sister every moring before school. and how she is not the beutiqueen yet but after she finishes whe will be done putting on who she is to the woprld. Nice use of fairily simple quipment as well. Thankyou for the memory Brittney for the memory my sister passed 18 years ago the is picture moved me dearly . Yet Mom still caries on the ritual.

This photo is fabulous. It gives so much personality to a bug we think has none. It makes a tiny world expand into one that is very exciting! An insect is humanized so that we can relate to it. I love this picture. - Ali

Thats sounds cruel. Digital altering would have been a better choice in my opinion. This picture is automatically disqualified in my opinion due to cruelty to a ladybug. I am sure the ladybug would not have agreed voluntarily to this procedure. .

Hi just to correct this slightly the camera used was not a "photomatix hdr", photomatix is a program used to create an hdr image, and its quite an over cooked hdr to say the least there is an art to using it and this looks pretty over done to me.

Tim has captured not only a heart stopping picture, but has evoked a heart stopping emotion to go with it. When one can evoke emotion from a photo that is true talent. Sincerely, Mickey Batin

This image was NOT altered in Photoshop at all, it is simply an HDR photograph of the actual scene.
