The first one to go was always Dad. He’d be snoring before the coming attractions were over. "Lend me one of your pillows for your father," Mom would say to me.Three or four hours later, I’d finish off the last of the Necco wafers and rouse everybody. "Hey, it’s over! Time to go home."
"What the heck are you doing up?" Dad would ask, yawning. "Was the movie any good?" "I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow," I’d say.

Working at a Drive-In's concession stand was my first "real" job at age 14. The hubbub and hustle to get the product out before the show and during the intermission was always a challenge but the people always seemed to be patient with our limited staff. We never had time to watch any of the movies but we could listen as we worked. Thanks for the memory jogger!

Hey! did this ever bring back memories!!! wonderful nights with the kids and their blankets....One night (I had 4 kids) going home I did not hear the voice of the younger one...after enquiring about it to the older ones...they informed me that she was not with us...wow!! I was upset! To think I had left her at the drive-in!!!!We went back right away and she was busy playing, not a care in the world!!! Thanks for the memories...I love your web=site...very educational.
