The New Hampshire Boat Museum focuses on the boating heritage and life on New Hampshire's fresh waterways. We serve the local community and visitors through experiential educational programs, exhibits, events, publications and hands-on activities.

Exhibits

The 2022 Season at the New Hampshire Boat Museum includes two featured exhibitions as well as fun activities and other displays to see inside the museum. The first featured exhibit is "Letting Off Steam: Escaping to New Hampshire during the Golden Age of Steam," and the second featured exhibit is "Who's in the Boat?", which is an exploration of the history of rowing crew in the US beginning with the first ever intercollegiate event on Lake Winnipesaukee between Harvard and Yale, a crew regatta. The latter exhibit was inspired by the book "Boys in the Boat" by Daniel Brown. We wanted to see how the sport has grown and evolved over the last century.

Visitors will see examples of steamboats, gas powered boats, and rowing shells on display in these exhibits.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
