The Gallery in the Sun Museum was designed and built by Arizona artist Ettore “Ted” DeGrazia. It is home to a colorful array of DeGrazia originals including oil paintings, sculptures, ceramics and watercolors.

DeGrazia is best known for capturing the spirit of the Southwest and its people.

Exhibits

Rotating Exhibit-“DeGrazia’s Processions”
“DeGrazia’s Processions” features ceremonial processions of the local Native American and Hispanic communities. Spanning twenty-eight years of his career, this selection features candlelight processions, funeral processions, children’s La Posada processions, and processions with shrines and crosses. The exhibit is currently on display at the Gallery in the Sun Museum through January 25th, 2023.

Rotating Exhibit-“DeGrazia’s Ballet”
DeGrazia’s Ballet is a new selection of drawings, watercolors, and oil paintings inspired by classical and modern ballet. Created between 1950 and 1961 by Tucson artist Ted DeGrazia, this work is on display starting September 2, 2022 at the Gallery in the Sun Museum through January 25th, 2023.

Rotating Exhibit-“Rock Talk: The Prehistoric Art of Ted DeGrazia”
Ancient petroglyphs and pictographs inspired a series of drawings, watercolors, ceramics, and textile designs featured in the new exhibit Rock Talk: The Prehistoric Art of Ted DeGrazia. The exhibit opens on September 2, 2022 at the Gallery in the Sun Museum through January 25th. 2023.

Permanent Exhibits
There are six permanent collections of paintings that trace historical events and native cultures of the Southwest. They are DeGrazia and Padre Kino, DeGrazia Paints Cabeza de Vaca, DeGrazia Paints Papago Indian Legends, Retrospective Collection, DeGrazia Paints the Yaqui Easter and DeGrazia Paints The Bullfight.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis.
