Museum Day Hours of Operation: 10:00am ‐ 5:00pm
The Children's Science Explorium, located in Sugar Sand Park, is a hands-on science center designed for children 5 – 12 years of age and their caregivers. We offer fascinating and interactive exhibits, programs and camps that bring the physical sciences to life. In addition to our permanent exhibit collection, the Explorium offers its visitors a variety of traveling exhibits each year. From rockets to molecules, the museum engages and teaches children about the fantastic world of science!
In addition to our permanent exhibits, our new traveling exhibit, "Sonic Sensation" explores the science of sound and hearing.
Experience our sonic world and the sensation of being surrounded by everyday sounds in this interactive exhibition. Experiment with pitch, test your own hearing, make a movie soundtrack, and step into the ever-popular Scream Chamber!
This venue will accept your Museum Day Live! ticket on the screen of your smartphone.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
