The Museum's mission is to honor the achievements of women throughout history, provide educational programs that promote leadership, economic independence, and expertise in math, science, engineering and technology. We focus on educating visitors on women's potential by providing on-going programs for children and adults.
Envision 2020 encourages us to dream into the near future by giving historical reference to where women are today in terms of leadership. A recent addition to the museum is a timeline which starts in the late 18th century and highlights significant points in time.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
