Tours of Simon Rodia's Watts Towers, rotating exhibitions in Noah Purifoy and Mingus Galleries, arts education classes and the ANNUAL WATTS TOWERS DAY OF THE DRUM FESTIVAL September 24 and Simon Rodia Jazz Festival, September 25, 2011 (10a.m.-6 p.m). Narrative Odyssey Manifesting Artistic Dreams (NOMAD), a collection of a body of artworks by local master artist Dominique Moody. This new exhibit is composed of figurative sculptures constructed from salvaged materials, embellished with found objects and collaged with photo imagery to narrate Moody’s life story. The exhibit includes two assemblage mosaic works, “Ancestral Praise House” and “In the Flow of Ase” – on loan from the California African American Museum’s permanent collection.
Dr. Joseph & Bootsie Howard Gallery: Permanent display of musical instruments from around the world.
