The Watts Towers 50 Years Inspiring Art
This is the 50th Anniversary of the Watts Towers Arts Center - offering guided tours of Simon Rodia's Watts Towers, rotating exhibitions in Noah Purifoy and Mingus Galleries, arts education classes and the Annual Watts Towers Day of the Drum and Simon Rodia Jazz Festivals, last weekend September (10a.m.-6 p.m). Arts Center:Tuesday thru Saturday, 10:30 - 4, Sunday 12:30 - 4.
Exhibits
Dr. Joseph & Bootsie Howard Gallery: Permanent display of musical instruments from around the world. Noah Purifoy and Mingus Galleries: ‘The Watts Towers 50 Years Inspiring Art’ Aug. 23, ’09 – Jan. 17 ’10. Group exhibition of works inspired by the Watts Towers.
Museums and cultural venues participate in Museum Day voluntarily. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for individual museum content or participation.
