The purpose of the Museum is to recognize and commemorate those who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States. Open for the past twelve years, and staffed entirely by volunteers, the Museum specializes in relating military history to school students.
The Museum displays more than 30 military vehicles and other artifacts from the Revolutionary War to the present. Many of the vintage vehicles are capable of running. In addition to exhibit descriptions, docents are on hand to expand on posted descriptions.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
