The University of Hawaii Art Gallery presents a varied program of historical and contemporary exhibitions including the popular triennial "International Shoebox Sculpture Exhibition." Founded in 1976, the UH Art Gallery has developed a national and international reputation for the quality of its exhibitions and publications.
Exhibits
"Writing with Thread: Traditional Textiles of Southwest Chinese Minorities" features over 500 pieces of significant clothing and silver ornaments from 15 ethnic minority groups and nearly 100 subgroups from southwest China. Works were selected from Evergrand Art Museum’s collection, unmatched in the world, in Taiwan.
Museums and cultural venues participate in Museum Day voluntarily. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for individual museum content or participation.
