Founded in 1976, the UH Art Gallery has developed an international reputation for the quality of its exhibitions and publications. Closed Saturday, Sept. 25. Opening Sunday, Sept. 26, 12:00-5:00: "Musings of Mystery and Alphabets of Agony: The Work of Edward Gorey." Program 2:00-3:00; reception & performance 3:00-5:00.

Exhibits

"Musings of Mystery and Alphabets of Agony: The Work of Edward Gorey" honors the celebrated, prolific American author and artist revered for his distinctly elegant, enigmatic, and eerie black and white illustrations. Nearly 700 books, book jackets, prints, posters, drawings, postcards, handmade dolls, and other ephemera are featured.




Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
