Civil War, railroad and textile heritage of northwest Georgia are highlighted at the heritage center. Admission includes entry to the 1850 Western and Atlanta Railroad Tunnel, noted as along the route of the Great Locomotive Chase.

Exhibits

Local Civil War and railroad artifacts help tell the story of Tunnel Hill's heritage during earlier times. The chenille bedspread display highlights the days of the Old Dixie Highway when this stretch of road was known as "Peacock Alley," so named after the iconic peacock designed spreads that hung outside at the roadside markets.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
