The Works is a "hands-on, minds-on" museum that makes learning about engineering, science and technology interesting, understandable and fun.
Bring your family and enjoy unique interactive exhibits that delight visitors ages 5 to 12 and inspire interest in the way things work.
Our exhibits are grouped into three major theme areas Gears and Gizmos, Structures and Shapes, and The Interactive Image.
We also feature a traveling exhibit, Tech City. Kids can learn about all the fascintating engineering involved in running a city and try their own skills at designing a plaza, using a sound studio or building a dam.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
