*Listing from Museum Day 2011*
Built in early 1920s by Edward Collings Knight Jr. and his wife Marie Louise, this grand residence is rich in Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts architecture and aesthetics. The residence, boathouse and arched bridge have been restored and are open for tours year round.
See original Tiffany lighting, Louis Majorelle furnishings, and more. The tour encompasses the first two floors of the 21,000sf home and ends in the Exhibit Gallery where many original artifacts, photos and documents are on display. New for 2011 - the Mounted Coast Guard Patrol Exhibit.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
