Located in the former Texas School Book Depository, The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza chronicles the assassination and legacy of President John F. Kennedy through a permanent historical exhibit on the sixth floor and special exhibits and programs on the seventh floor.

Exhibits

Exhibit Information: “John F. Kennedy and the Memory of a Nation” is the permanent exhibition of documentary films, historic footage, photographs and artifacts. “A Photographer’s Story: Bob Jackson and the Kennedy Assassination” is a special exhibit featuring two decades of work by the photojournalist whose iconic image of Jack Ruby fatally shooting assassination suspect Lee Harvey Oswald won the 1964 Pulitzer Prize.




Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
