This museum is a 57-room eight-sided mansion with rudimentary forms of running water, A/C and central heating. Also on the grounds is America's First Kindergarten, founded in 1856.
Visitors will see furnishings found in a 19th Century home, along with items relating to Watertown history, fashions and playthings of a by-gone era and ethnic heritage exhibits.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
