The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is the largest fine arts museum in Northeast Florida with nearly 5,000 objects in its permanent collection. It is home to a highly regarded collection of European masters and American impressionists, a world-renowned collection of 18th century Meissen porcelain, and more than two-and-one half acres of historic gardens along the St. Johns River. Art Connections, the museum's nationally recognized education center, provides hands-on art experiences for visitors of all ages.
No traveling exhibitions on this day. However, The Cummer offers a permanent collection of more than 5,000 objects that is world-class art spanning from 2100 B.C. through the 21st century. We are also home to the Wark Meissen Collection, one of three most outstanding collections of porcelain in the world and have more than two-and-one half acres of historic gardens along the St. Johns River.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
