    In The Cause of Liberty explores the Civil War causes, course, and legacies on a national scale and is housed in the war's greatest artifact- the 1861 Tredegar Gun Foundry. Located on 8.3 acres in downtown Richmond's historic river district, the Center offers views of the James River.




    Museums and cultural venues participate in Museum Day voluntarily. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for individual museum content or participation.
