Located in Fort Totten Park,the Bayside Historical Society resides in the c. 1887 Castle, originally constructed as the officers' club for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. BHS has become one of the leading cultural institutions in northeast Queens, and the Castle serves as a learning destination for school groups, a resource for researchers and the community, and a venue for the visual and performing arts.
