Located 15 minutes from Shiloh Battlefield, the museum is a monument to the Tennessee River and its influence on the land, the people and the heritage of the Tennessee Valley. It features eight major exhibits and a bookstore/gift shop.
Exhibits chronicle prehistoric times, life of the Mississippian mound builders, the tragic story of the "Trail of Tears," the Civil War on the River, the Golden Age of Steamboats, and the Tennessee River today.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis.
