The Sonoma County Museum (SCM) is a private, non-profit museum for art and history with broad community support. We are the only museum of California’s North Coast region to present a comprehensive array of exhibits, education and public programs, and to hold a significant collection of over 22,000 artworks and historic objects.The museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate.
"Mexican Photographers." On Loan From SFMOMA, this exhibition presents a complex synthesis of art and politics, exploring Mexico's distinctively rich and diverse photography tradition from the 1920s to the present. It begins in the period following the Mexican Revolution when international artists such as Tina Modotti and Edward Weston found creative inspiration in Mexico and, in turn, helped to inspire Mexican photographers.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
