Located on the National Mall in downtown Washington, DC, The National Museum of Natural History is the most visited natural history museum in world. It is filled with permanent exhibits including: the Hope Diamond,Dinosaurs, mammals, meteorites, and more.
New exhibits include live butterflies, The Sant Ocean Hall, the David H Koch Hall of Human Origins and new temporary exhibits that open throughout the year. 3-D IMAX films are available daily as are several cafes.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
