Learn more about the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum ยป

The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum maintains the largest collection of historic air and space artifacts in the world. The Museum has two display facilities: The building on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia.

Exhibits

The Museum on the National Mall offers 22 exhibition galleries filled with iconic aircraft and small objects that illustrate the history of aviation and space. The Udvar-Hazy Center has thousands more items, many too large to be exhibited on the National Mall.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
