Seabee Museum and Memorial Park Website »
Visit the original home of the US Navy Seabees. These skilled construction workers with the “Can Do” spirit have participated in every conflict since WW-II. They have built the American bases in Antarctica and have provided humanitarian disaster assistance at home and around the world.
See historical displays about the Seabees from their founding in 1942 up to today. See six full sized Quonset huts, also developed at the former Navy base. Learn about the famous WW-II "Magic Boxes", a pontoon system that allowed Seabees to land supplies on D-Day. See the largest statue of a Seabee, the famous Gate 1 Seabee, and also see the largest poured concrete chapel built by Seabees.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
