The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden is a living museum which boasts 78 acres of lush landscape and features one of the largest collections of California native plants in the state. Our vibrant displays are spread across 5 ½ miles of trails that include redwoods, desert and meadow sections. Pack a lunch and relax in a picnic area while enjoying the Garden’s stunning vistas.
Museum Day Live! occurs on the kick-off of our annual Fall Plant Sale. Featuring the largest selection of natives between Los Angeles and San Francisco with over 450 species and more than 5,000 plants, this event is awash with interesting, hard-to-find, drought-tolerant varieties ready for fall and winter planting.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
