Smithsonian Affiliate Museum
The San Diego Air & Space Museum is unique to the region and serves the public through its mission–to celebrate the history of aviation and space; to educate the public regarding science and aerospace technology; and to inspire innovation and achievement. The SDASM was the first aero-themed museum to be accredited by the American Association of Museums (1986), is an affiliate of the Smithsonian, and nationally recognized as one of the country’s premier aerospace museums.
Exhibits
STAR TREK THE EXHIBITION, this multi–city touring exhibition contains the world’s most comprehensive collection of authentic Star Trek ships, sets, costumes and props from all 5 series and 10 films over the last 40+ years. This exhibit will give everyone the opportunity to step inside the Star Trek world and become active participants in the legacy that has captured the imagination of generations.
Museums and cultural venues participate in Museum Day voluntarily. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for individual museum content or participation.
