The San Dieguito Heritage Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of the San Dieguito area. This includes the communities of Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Olivenhain and Ranch Santa Fe.

Exhibits

Currently on view is a recreation of Al's Barbershop, a haircutting parlor in Encinitas from the 30s and 40s. Al was really named Ulysses Grant Johnston. He won the barbershop in a poker hand, changed his name to Al and learned to be a barber.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis.
