We provide exhibits and research materials related to local history. Located in Cañon City’s former municipal building, there are four exhibit rooms, a reading room for research, and historic structures. Enjoy guided tours while learning about the area’s multifaceted history.

Exhibits

Historic firearms exhibit, Robert Wesley Amick art, natural history items from Dall DeWeese, military veterans pieces from the Civil War to the present,and one of the largest phonograph collections anywhere. The history center contains research materials for all facets of local history.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
