Dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of dolls as an art form. Exhibits feature over 1250 dolls and childhood memorabilia on permanent and temporary display, ranging from antique to modern. Displays focus on the historical uses of dolls, the study of world cultures, and art.

Exhibits

"What is a Doll", "Evolution of Doll Technology", "Look Who's Talking Now" dolls as indicators of popular culture, "Celebrations of Heritage", "Made in the USA", Japanese Girl's Day display, “Small, Smaller, Smallest” a miniatures exhibit, and "Twentieth Century Dolls"-."Shhh-Fairies, Gnomes, and Woodland Creatures"




Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
