The Radio & Television Museum documents the history of radio and TV technology and broadcasting to America's homes. See artifacts from the dawn of radio to the transistor age (radios, televisions, microphones, pictures, posters, and more). Watch early TV on vintage TV sets. Hear audio clips of historic moments in radio.

Exhibits

See a 1939 radio with the world's first wireless remote control. See an exhibit about the history of FM radio. Try making radio sound effects.




Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
