Our American Indian Heritage Museum offers a unique, multifaceted look at American Indian culture. Knowledgeable staff members will take you on a guided tour of our exhibits. In addition to viewing contemporary American Indian artwork, visitors will learn about American Indian history, culture and traditions.
Guided tours are geared specifically to the age of the visitors. You'll receive detailed explanations of our numerous exhibits. We'll strongly recommend that you take our additional information sheets, mainly about the Powhatan Renape Nation, after signing in. Exhibits will appear the same during September 26th, 2009 as they do for every tour.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
