The Portland Art Museum is internationally recognized for its permanent collection and ambitious special exhibitions, drawn from the Museum’s holdings and the world’s finest public and private collections. The collection of more than 42,000 objects reflects the history of art from ancient times to today.

Exhibits

The Museum’s Permanent Collection showcases a one-of-a-kind collection of 5,000 Native American objects and 4,000 Japanese, Chinese, and Korean objects dating from the 3rd millennium. Modern and Contemporary Art, and Photography, round out an extraordinary array of art for one Museum.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis.
