Located in the historic hangars of Ford Island that survived the surprise attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy on Pearl Harbor December 7th, 1941, the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor houses a collection of period planes, a restoration shop, flight simulators, and a period themed café.
Aircraft from Pacific region, including a Navy Stearman biplane soloed by George H.W. Bush, a restored Japanese Zero, remnants and narrated story of a Zero that crash-landed on the island of Niihau, a Navy Wildcat, P-40 Warhawk fighter, and interactive exhibits.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
