Newport history starts here. The perfect place to begin your visit to Newport. This award winning museum provides an engaging introduction to Newport's four centuries of rich and diverse history.

Exhibits

The Brick Market Museum & Shop provides the whole family with an engaging introduction to the area's rich history, architecture, and the stories of the people who have made Newport one of America's most important cities.

Exhibits feature James Franklin's printing press, the figurehead from the yacht Aloha,photographs, furniture, colonial silver, paintings, objects of daily life and more, all from the collections of the Newport Historical Society.




Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
