Impressive exhibitions of regional art housed in the 1864 Griswold House, designed by famed American architect Richard Morris Hunt, and in the 1920 Cushing Gallery, designed by William Adams Delano. Wheelchair access, gift shop. A must-see for those interested in contemporary or historic RI art.

Exhibits

In addition to works from the permanent collection, exhibitions include “Going Home: Sculpture and Prints by Frank Poor”; “Printmakers Network of Southern New England”; “Remembering the Ladies: Women and The Art Association of Newport.” The National Historic Landmark Griswold House alone is worth the visit.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
