  • Museum Day Hours of Operation
  • 1:00pm - 5:00pm

The Neill-Cochran House is one of Austin's oldest landmarks. Built in 1855 by the same builder as the Texas Governor's Mansion, this impressive Greek Revival house has survived bankruptcy, war, neglect, and the immense growth of the University area and the Capital City.

Exhibits

Actual pieces from the Cochran family will be on display in the upstairs hallway as well as a new faux-food dessert table (circa 1900) set in the dining room. A Friends of the Neill-Cochran House Museum Fair will be in its second day.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
