The Naval Undersea Museum is an accredited museum operated by the United States Navy. Our mission is to preserve, collect and interpret naval undersea history, science and operations for the benefit of the U.S. Navy and the people of the United States.
Hands-on exhibits about diving, torpedoes, mines, the ocean environment, life on board a submarine, and USS Greenling control room.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
