The Showcase of American mining, and boast one of the most comprehensive mining memoraabilia, equipment, and mineral collections in North America. More than 25,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space fills our historic campus.
Highlights include life like, historic replica mines, extensive gem and mineral specimens, scale models of historic mining towns and railroads, interactive exhibits, educational displays, dioramas, and many fine pieces of artwork from sculptures to murals.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
