  • Museum Day Hours of Operation
  • 11:00am - 3:00pm

The Museum of Geneva History showcases the Village of Geneva's history from pre-historic times to mid 1900s. Virtually all of the items in the Museum came from Geneva residents and their ancestors. We shall be coordinating the day with the Village of Rural Heritage Center, just down the street.

Exhibits

The Museum has displays of archeological, Civil War, railroad, military, entertainment, citrus, turpentine, and craft items. It also has bedroom, kitchen, and mercantile vignettes. Contained in the Museum are history and pioneer family genealogy files. Our special display in September is in recognition of the anniversary of the Civil War. We have information on the local Civil War happenings, Civil War items and information on Lewis Thornton Powell, one of the Lincoln conspirators whose head is buried in our Geneva Cemetery.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
