MOCFA is only museum in Northern California exploring the relationship between folk art and craft in the contemporary world. Known for almost 30 years for providing exhibitions, events, family activity days and hands-on crafting programs for all ages that aim to inspire, honor cultural traditions, and celebrate the creative spirit.
The Museum presents, "Fiber Futures: Japan's Textile Pioneers" — a unique exhibition of nearly 30 contemporary Japanese artists who are active at the cutting edge of the global fiber-art movement, transforming fabrics into sculptures, picture, emulations of nature, or even abstract meditations on memory and identity. In addition to free admission, Smithsonian members also enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases in the museum store!
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
