The Museum of American Finance is the nation’s only public museum dedicated to money, finance and entrepreneurship. It occupies the historic former home of the Bank of New York and offers five permanent interactive exhibits.

Exhibits

“Scandal! Financial Crime, Chicanery and Corruption that Rocked America” is a richly informative exhibit covering several of the major financial scandals, from William Duer’s role in the Crash of 1792 through Lehman’s colossal downfall.

“Tracking the Credit Crisis: A Timeline” traces the development of the current financial crisis, the most severe and complex economic and financial challenge in modern experience.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
