The Museum is located in the 1856 Wayne County Jail & Sheriff's residence, the same jail where the only man executed in Wayne County was hanged. Three floors of exhibits include: the Military Room, Clyde Glass & Lyons Pottery and Pre-History Rooms.
Apart from the many exhibition rooms, our main exhibit in the Changing Exhibition Room will be "Prehistory to Native Americans." The Carriage House exhibits of Hotchkiss Peppermint, Agriculture and the Erie Canal will also be available for tours.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
