The Monterey Museum of Art is devoted to the visual arts of California and collects and presents exhibitions on photography, contemporary art, works on paper and Asian art. The Museum was established in 1959 as a chapter of the American Federation of the Arts and is accredited by the American Association of Museums. Over twenty permanent collection and traveling exhibitions are presented annually in two Monterey locations: 559 Pacific Street and 720 Via Mirada. Edward Weston: American Photographer

This exhibition of work by an American legend and renowned visionary is organized from major museum and private collections. It features vintage prints of Weston’s most famous and admired photographs along with rare images not widely exhibited. The exhibition is on view at the Monterey Museum of Art-La Mirada located at 720 Via Mirada, Monterey, California, 93940.
The Monterey Museum of Art-Pacific Street location features three exhibitions of works by leading nineteenth and twentieth century artists and photographers.
The Art of California, 1880 to the Present

This exhibition features a selection of paintings and works on paper by artists who have been inspired by the majesty and variety of land and sea on the west coast.
California Artists and Portraiture

The Museum owns a varied selection of portrait paintings which are not often displayed; many are by artists better known for their landscapes.
Adams & Weston and the Masters of California Photography
Through January 2012
Works of iconic photographers Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and members of the Group f/64 include black and white and color photographs depicting landscapes of California’s grandeur.
