MCHA collects, preserves, interprets its museum, five historic houses, library, and archival collections that relate to Monmouth County's history and culture, making these resources available to the public. MCHA promotes the study and appreciation of regional and national history through educational programming, publications, exhibits, research services.

Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
