The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is a lively educational science center featuring 21st century interactive exhibits on aviation, astronomy, Earth and space sciences, a world renowned planetarium and a variety of engaging programs. The Discovery center also has an Observatory and Science Store, and offers visitors a cafe and free parking.
Exhibits include a Tribute Wall featuring information on NH astronauts Christa McAuliffe and Alan Shepard, 92' replica of the Mercury-Redstone Rocket, an XF8U-2 Crusader Jet, a Picture Yourself in Infrared exhibit, a Space Shuttle Model and Mercury Capsule model, and much more.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
