The Mayborn Museum Complex contains a natural history museum with walk-in dioramas and exploration stations, sixteen themed discovery rooms for hands-on learning, a 13 acre historic village, a traveling exhibit hall, a 185-seat theater, a Baylor University exhibit and a great museum store.
The natural history exhibits include the Waco Mammoth Site experience, a Texas forest;a limestone cave, Cretaceous Sea, Crossroads of Texas, Extinction, Emergence of man, and Texas Lifeways.
Discovery rooms range from Vertebrates to Transportation; Sound to Simple Machines, Energy to People of the World.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
