Celebrate our Gifts of the Land: Harvest Thanksgiving. Learn about mushrooms and how to preserve meat and fish with Averell Manes, Ph.D. licensed wildlife rehabilitator, specializing in bats. Then welcome E. Barrie Kavasch (Cherokee) as she presents her excellent mushroom program followed by an identification foray outdoors. Have fun finding our Discovery Carts throughout the museum and play Native games throughout the day.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
