The Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center is a tribally owned and operated nonprofit institution whose mission is to further knowledge and understanding of the richness and diversity of Eastern Woodland and North America’s indigenous cultures and societies.
Explore the museum’s 85,000 sq. ft. permanent exhibition. At 11 am visit Gifts of the Land: Fall Harvest Thanksgiving, one of many Native thanksgivings celebrated through the year, and join in a round dance with Wayne Reels (Mashantucket Pequot). Learn about wild mushrooms at 1 pm and take a hunt-and-find mushroom walk at 2 pm with Barrie Kavasch, Cherokee author and ethnobotanist. Mashantucket Pequot artisans demonstrate and sell craft items.
This venue will accept your Museum Day Live! ticket on the screen of your smartphone.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
